Camp Fair Adds Fun

You didn’t imagine that Family Times’ Camp Fair could possibly be even more fantastic, did you?

Well, this year the staffers at All Times Ltd., the parent company of this magazine and sister publication the Syracuse New Times, have pulled out all the stops. In its eighth year, the event has been renamed to reflect a lot of changes, and it’s now the Summer Fun and Camp Fair. It takes place on Saturday, March 31, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the State Fairgrounds’ Horticulture Building, and, as always, admission is free.

The move from Carousel Center to the Horticulture Building means growth into a much larger, more open space. The 53,600 square feet of rental space will be filled with dozens of exhibitors displaying information and bringing staff to talk about summer camps and programs, and day camps. It’s a chance for parents to figure out everything they need to know to put their kid’s summer together in one day.

But, wait, there’s more! The “Summer Fun” part of the name refers to a new category of exhibit, including day-trip destinations, amusement parks, festivals, campgrounds, and parks and beaches. At this writing, exhibitors include: Enchanted Forest/Water Safari, Aquatic World and many more.

As usual, there will be plenty to keep the kids busy while parents peruse brochures and talk to staffers at the various tables. Depending on what time families stop by, children can get their faces painted and their caricatures drawn, and they can jump in a bounce house and try out sporting activities. They can also watch performances and demonstrations on two stages. The Skippy’s Ice Cream truck will be giving out free samples. Also, kids can meet favorite cartoon characters from television and movies at several times in the afternoon.

The same weekend as the Summer Fun and Camp Fair the Tigris Shrine Circus will be at the State Fairgrounds, so circus-goers can easily combine the two activities.

Family Times hopes you can make it. If you have questions, call us at 472-4669.
